Mind Room

8:30AM - 10:30AM • Embodied Psychology
Presenter: Laurie Trace

There are over 400 models of psychotherapy, many of which contradict each other, and most of which strive to 'cure' human suffering in one form or another. But what if the so-called problem isn't the symptoms themselves, but rather, the way you've been taught to relate to distressing emotions. Pioneers in the field of trauma-informed compassionate approaches to human distress propose that depression and anxiety are actually normal responses to a culture that pushes you past your limits, normalizes business, promotes competition and rewards you for betraying yourself daily. It's time for a new perspective on mental health, one that views suffering through a trauma-informed, strength-based lens, one that honours human resiliency and the innate wisdom for self-healing you have always possessed. This session will leave you hopeful, inspired and practically equipped for the peace and joy you deserve.

11:00AM - 12:30PM • Listening To Your Nervous System
Presenter: Ashi Saini

Your nervous system is always working to keep you safe — even when its responses feel confusing, overwhelming or out of your control. During this event, you will be introduced to Polyvagal Theory in a grounded and accessible way. You’ll learn how different nervous system states develop, why they exist, and how they shape the way you feel, think and connect with others. Rather than pathologizing your reactions, we’ll explore them as intelligent adaptations. You’ll be guided to map your own nervous system using a visual chart, identifying what safety, activation and shutdown feel like for you. Through reflection, discussion and creative expression, you’ll build a personal understanding of what helps you return to a regulated, connected state — often called “self.” This event isn’t about controlling your nervous system or forcing calm. It’s about learning to listen, respond with compassion and expand your capacity for regulation over time.

2:00PM - 4:00PM • Drama Free
Presenter: Laurie Trace

As our world becomes increasingly unpredictable, it’s easy to get swept away by things we cannot control. The illusion of control can offer a short-term sense of security, but the price we pay is rarely worth it. If you find yourself frustrated, exhausted, reactive, hopeless, or unappreciated despite all of your efforts in relationships, you may be living in the ‘drama triangle” without your knowledge. This event will highlight three common roles that inevitably create and prolong suffering in our relationship to others. Bringing awareness to these well-intentioned, universal, subconscious parts of self is the first step towards genuine security, even in the midst of chaos. This simple model will give you practical steps for preserving your energy with confidence, clarity and compassion.
